Sprint, Dribble, Pass, Run, Shoot, Drill

Today we are changing it up slightly, going for a bit more of an advanced drill, but it can be used by anyone willing to give it a try.

The aim of the drill is to increase a players overall game from fitness to ball skills to shot technique. The players probably won't like the coach too much as this will also push them physically and mentally to a new level. Let's get to it!

STEP 1:

First off, setup the drill area. Take your cones and set them up as shown in the picture above( Two cones one the edge of the area and between 6 and 8 further up the pitch, in line with each other, for the player to dribble through.

STEP 2:

Line your players up behind your 'starting' cone. Each player must be holding a ball. At the sound of your whistle the player must sprint, with the ball in hand, to the next cone which will be your starting point for the dribbling part of the drill. If the player drops his/her ball before reaching the dribbling start cone. they must go back and start again.

STEP 3:

Player must then put the ball down and start dribbling through the series of cones. Same as before, if they knock a cone over, they need to start from the first dribbling cone.

STEP 4:

When the player reaches the end of the dribbling sequence. They must play a weighted pass from where they stand to the next cone placed on the edge of the area. As they pass, they must run to the cone as well. They need to weight the pass perfectly in order to meet the ball on the other end with enough time and space to shoot. If they pass it to hard and the ball reach the small box, they must start again.

STEP 5:

Provided the pass is good and they meet the ball in a good position, they must then take one touch to control the ball and their next touch must be a shot across goal. Whether they score or miss, the drill is complete for them once they shot. However, if they miss the goal, they may need to do a bit more running to collect the ball, depending on where you train.
