Pass and move drill
Welcome back to FootyTactics. Today I want to focus on passing and moving. We all know the best teams are so good, because of their pass and move skills.
This drill is a basic one that combines both to keep all your players alert at all times. Leave a comment below, with your views.
Step 1:
Setup 10 cones split 5 and 5 on opposite ends, as seen in the image below. Then take 10 players and line them up, a player per cone. As seen in the image below, set 3 balls on one side and two balls on the other. Set the balls so that 3 are on the outside coming inside and 2 are on the inside going outside.
Step 2:
Once everything is setup and the players are in position, start the drill with the blow of the whistle or a shout, however you may start your drills is up to you. I would advise doing this drill in steps, to begin with, to stop any confusion between the players. Blow the whistle, instructing players with the ball to pass it to their opposite number. Remember 3 ball go from out to in and 2 balls go from in to out. Once all the balls have been passed, blow the whistle again which is the signal for the players to all move to the next cone. You can choose which direction the players go in, just remember to make it a flowing motion.
Step 3:
When the players have passed and moved to the next cone.Blow the whistle to start the drill again. As your players get used to the drill you can speed it up and eventually eliminate the amount of whistle blows.
When the drill is in full motion without whistle blows the players should be passing and moving in a continuous motion all the way around, until they reach the cone they started on.
NB: This drill is good for all players to do, but you can use it just for your outfield players. Again this is all your own preference!
